How God makes the impossible possible

          Life often confronts us with situations that seem utterly impossible. Whether it's a dire financial need, a broken relationship, a terminal illness, or a long-awaited promise that seems delayed beyond hope—such moments test our faith. Yet, the Bible consistently affirms a powerful truth: Nothing is impossible with God.

Understanding the Nature of God

        To understand how God makes the impossible possible, we must first understand who God is. He is not limited by time, nature, or human constraints. He is all-powerful (Omnipotent), all-knowing (Omniscient), and ever-present (Omnipresent).

    Luke 1:37 (KJV) – "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

        This statement, spoken by the angel Gabriel to Mary, is not mere comfort—it is a foundational truth that resonates throughout Scripture. God has repeatedly demonstrated His power to override natural laws and human limitations.

1. God Defies Natural Laws

        God created nature, and He can override it at will. Many impossible situations in the Bible were resolved by His divine intervention.

Example: The Red Sea Crossing

        When the Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, there was no natural escape. But God made a way where there was no way.

    Exodus 14:21-22 (NIV) – "Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land."

          God doesn’t just fix the problem—He transforms the environment to reveal His glory.

2. God Brings Life Out of Death

         One of the most powerful ways God demonstrates His supremacy is by turning death into life, both literally and spiritually.

Example: The Raising of Lazarus

         Lazarus had been dead for four days. His situation was beyond hopeless. Yet Jesus, the resurrection and the life, called him back.

    John 11:43-44 (NKJV) – "He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' And he who had died came out..."

        No matter how “dead” a situation may look—whether it’s a business, a marriage, or a dream—God can breathe life into it.

3. God Uses the Unqualified

         God often picks the least likely candidates to fulfill His plans, making the impossible possible through the most unexpected people.

Example: Gideon

         Gideon was hiding in fear when the angel called him a “mighty man of valor.” He saw himself as the weakest, yet God used him to deliver Israel with just 300 men.

    Judges 6:15-16 (NIV) – “But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest... and I am the least...” The Lord answered, “I will be with you...”

Example: Mary, Mother of Jesus

         A virgin bearing a child is biologically impossible. But God chose Mary to carry His Son.

    Luke 1:34-35 (NIV) – “How will this be,” Mary asked, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you...”

4. God Turns Defeat into Victory

        When all seems lost, God can turn the tables for a miraculous turnaround.

Example: David and Goliath

        Is a young shepherd boy defeating a seasoned giant warrior? Impossible—unless God is involved.

    1 Samuel 17:47 (KJV) – “The battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

         David didn’t win because of his strength but because of God’s presence and power.

5. God Fulfills Long-Delayed Promises

        Many times, the impossible seems tied to delay—when we’ve waited so long that hope begins to fade. Yet God works in His own perfect timing.

Example: Abraham and Sarah

        God promised Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars. But Sarah was barren, and both were well past childbearing age.

    Romans 4:20-21 (NIV) – "Yet he did not waver through unbelief... being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised."

         Sarah gave birth to Isaac at age 90. God keeps His word—no matter how long it takes.

6. God Makes a Way in the Wilderness

        God often shows His miraculous power in places of drought, pain, or isolation.

Example: The Provision of Manna

         In the wilderness, with no farms or supplies, God fed millions of Israelites with bread from heaven.

    Exodus 16:4 (KJV) – "Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you..."

         God can sustain you in dry seasons and provide where there seems to be no source.

7. God Opens Closed Doors

        Human limitation says, “This door is shut forever.” But God is the Master of opening doors no one can shut.

Example: Paul and Silas in Prison

        Locked in prison, bound by chains, their situation was bleak. But they praised God—and the impossible happened.

    Acts 16:25-26 (NIV) – "Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken... all the prison doors flew open..."

        God doesn’t need a key to open a door. He is the key.

8. God Restores the Broken

        Whether it's your health, family, or spiritual walk—God specializes in restoration.

Example: Job

        Job lost everything—children, wealth, health. But he remained faithful, and God restored him.

    Job 42:10 (NIV) – “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.”

        God doesn't just restore—He increases and multiplies beyond what was lost.

Why Does God Allow the “Impossible”?

         We may wonder why God doesn’t just make everything easy. But impossible situations serve to:

● Build faith

● Show His glory

● Draw us closer to Him

● Separate natural effort from divine intervention

      2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

         When we are weak, God reveals His strength. When we have no solutions, He steps in as the ultimate answer.

What Should You Do When Facing the Impossible?

1. Believe God’s Word

    “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17

         Immerse yourself in Scripture to strengthen your faith.

2. Pray Boldly

         God welcomes honest prayers—even prayers that admit doubt. But He desires us to ask big, trusting in His greatness.

3. Stand in Faith

         Sometimes the miracle doesn’t come immediately. Keep standing, believing that God is at work behind the scenes.

4. Praise Him in Advance

         Paul and Silas praised God before their deliverance. Praise shifts your focus from the problem to the problem solver.

● Matthew 19:26 – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

● Jeremiah 32:27 – “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”

● Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I am doing a new thing! ... I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

● Mark 9:23 – “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

         God is not bound by human logic, time, or limitation. What seems impossible to us is an opportunity for Him to show His glory. When facing the impossible, remember: It’s not about how big your problem is, but how big your God is.

         Your Red Sea can part. Your Lazarus can rise. Your barren season can become fruitful. Your closed door can swing open. Just believe.
