What are the 7 powers of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is not merely a mystical presence but the very breath, wisdom, and power of God working in and through believers. Isaiah 11:2 offers one of the clearest biblical outlines of the Holy Spirit's attributes, describing seven distinct manifestations—often called the seven powers or spirits of the Holy Spirit. These powers were fully embodied in Jesus Christ and are given to believers to live godly and victorious lives. Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)     " And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. "           Let’s look at each power in detail: 1. The Spirit of the Lord           This is the foundational presence of the Holy Spirit—the sovereign power of God that rests upon a person for divine assignment. It represents God’s anointing, approval, and presence.   ...

Signs of demonic influence

The Bible provides various accounts of demonic influence in individuals and societies. While it does not give a single list, it describes multiple characteristics and behaviors that indicate the presence of demonic forces. These influences can manifest in spiritual, mental, emotional, and even physical ways. Below are key signs of demonic influence, supported by Scripture.

1. Opposition to God and His Word

One of the clearest signs of demonic influence is hostility toward God, Jesus Christ, and biblical truth. The devil's primary goal is to turn people away from God.

● 1 John 4:3 – “Every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

● 2 Corinthians 4:4 – “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel.

People under demonic influence may reject Jesus, distort Scripture, or promote false teachings that contradict God’s Word.

2. Persistent and Extreme Sinful Behavior

While all people struggle with sin, demonic influence can cause an individual to be completely enslaved to sinful behavior. This could manifest in habitual sins such as sexual immorality, lying, theft, or violence.

● John 8:44 – Jesus said, “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires.

● Ephesians 4:27 – “Do not give the devil a foothold.

A person continually engaging in sin without remorse or conviction may be under demonic oppression.

3. Self-Destructive Thoughts and Behaviors

Demonic influence often leads people to harm themselves, either through self-mutilation, suicidal thoughts, or reckless behavior.

● Mark 5:2-5 – The demon-possessed man lived among tombs, cut himself with stones, and could not be controlled.

● John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.

If someone experiences persistent urges to harm themselves or others, it could be a sign of spiritual warfare.

4. Unusual Strength or Abnormal Behavior

The Bible records cases where demonic possession gave individuals supernatural strength or caused extreme, uncontrollable behavior.

● Mark 5:3-4 – The possessed man in the Gerasenes had supernatural strength, breaking chains meant to restrain him.

● Luke 9:39 – A demon would seize a boy, throw him to the ground, and make him foam at the mouth.

If someone exhibits unnatural aggression or uncontrollable outbursts, it may be more than just a psychological issue.

5. Occult Practices and Supernatural Abilities

Demonic influence is often linked to witchcraft, fortune-telling, and other occult activities. The Bible warns against such practices because they invite demonic forces.

● Deuteronomy 18:10-12 – “Let no one be found among you who…practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or consults the dead.

● Acts 16:16-18 – A slave girl had a spirit of divination and could predict the future until Paul cast the demon out.

Practices like tarot cards, séances, and spirit channeling can expose individuals to demonic oppression.

6. Mental Torment, Fear, and Depression

Demonic oppression can cause overwhelming fear, confusion, anxiety, and depression. Though not all mental health issues are spiritual, some cases have clear demonic origins.

● 1 Samuel 16:14-15 – An evil spirit tormented King Saul, causing distress and paranoia.

● 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

If fear, anxiety, or despair become unbearable and unexplainable, it may be a spiritual attack.

7. Resistance to Deliverance and Prayer

When someone is under demonic influence, they may resist prayer, react violently to the name of Jesus, or struggle to engage in worship.

● Mark 1:23-24 – A demon-possessed man in the synagogue cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us?

● James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If a person is unwilling or unable to pray, read the Bible, or hear about Jesus, it could indicate a spiritual battle.

How to Overcome Demonic Influence

The Bible teaches that Jesus has ultimate power over demons, and believers have authority through His name. Here are biblical steps to overcome demonic influence:

1. Repent and Submit to God

● James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

● Acts 3:19 – “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.

Breaking ties with sin is the first step to freedom from demonic oppression.

2. Pray in the Name of Jesus

● Mark 16:17 – “In my name, they will drive out demons.

● Philippians 2:10 – “At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.

Prayer in Jesus’ name has power over demonic forces.

3. Use the Word of God

● Ephesians 6:17 – “Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

● Matthew 4:10 – Jesus rebuked Satan using Scripture, saying, “Away from me, Satan!

Regularly reading and speaking Scripture helps resist demonic attacks.

4. Put on the Armor of God

● Ephesians 6:10-18 – The full armor of God (truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer) protects believers from spiritual attacks.

5. Seek Deliverance Through Prayer and Fasting

● Matthew 17:21 – “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.

Sometimes, deliverance requires dedicated prayer and fasting.

Demonic influence manifests in various ways, from opposition to God to self-destruction, fear, and supernatural occurrences. However, through Jesus Christ, believers have the power to overcome demonic forces. By submitting to God, using His Word, and praying in the name of Jesus, anyone can be set free from spiritual oppression. If you or someone you know is struggling, seeking pastoral guidance and prayer can help.

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight

We all already know that there are evil activities that take place at midnight, and our safety lies in the power of our prayers.
