What are the 7 powers of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is not merely a mystical presence but the very breath, wisdom, and power of God working in and through believers. Isaiah 11:2 offers one of the clearest biblical outlines of the Holy Spirit's attributes, describing seven distinct manifestations—often called the seven powers or spirits of the Holy Spirit. These powers were fully embodied in Jesus Christ and are given to believers to live godly and victorious lives. Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)     " And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. "           Let’s look at each power in detail: 1. The Spirit of the Lord           This is the foundational presence of the Holy Spirit—the sovereign power of God that rests upon a person for divine assignment. It represents God’s anointing, approval, and presence.   ...

Greatness in the eyes of God

In today’s world, greatness is often defined by power, popularity, wealth, or success. People strive to become great by climbing social ladders, gaining influence, and building reputations. But in the Kingdom of God, the definition of greatness is radically different. God’s perspective is not based on external accomplishments but on internal character and obedience to His will.

1. Humility is the Foundation

One of the clearest marks of greatness in God’s eyes is humility. Jesus said in Matthew 23:11-12 (NIV):

“The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

This is a divine principle: to go up in God’s Kingdom, you must go down in humility. The proud seek applause, but God looks at the hearts of those who quietly walk with Him. Humility invites God's grace (James 4:6), while pride drives Him away.

2. True Greatness is Measured by Service

In Mark 10:43-45, Jesus redefined leadership and greatness when He said:

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant... For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.

Service is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of spiritual strength. When we serve others in love and sincerity, especially when no one is watching, we reflect the heart of Jesus Himself.

3. Obedience is Greater than Sacrifice

Many people think that religious activities make them great. But the Bible tells us that obedience to God is what truly matters.

1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT):

“Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

God honors those who obey Him in both the big and small things. He measures greatness by our willingness to follow His word, even when it’s hard or unpopular.

4. Faithfulness in the Small Things

Jesus taught in Luke 16:10 (ESV):

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much…

We often overlook small opportunities to serve or obey, but God watches how we handle them. Being great in His eyes means being consistent and trustworthy, even when we’re not in the spotlight.

5. Love is the Greatest of All

According to 1 Corinthians 13:2, a person may have spiritual gifts, deep knowledge, or great faith, but if they lack love, they are nothing. God values love above all because it reflects His very nature.

True greatness involves loving others—especially those who are difficult to love. When we love sacrificially, we demonstrate God’s character in a broken world.

6. Jesus – Our Perfect Example of Greatness

The ultimate model of greatness is Jesus Christ. In Philippians 2:5-9, we learn how He humbled Himself, became a servant, and was obedient to death on the cross. Because of this, God exalted Him above all.

Jesus didn’t seek fame or praise—He sought to do the Father’s will. That is true greatness: a life surrendered to God.

God’s view of greatness challenges us to live differently. He doesn’t look at titles or achievements but at our hearts, our motives, and our actions toward others. Greatness in God’s Kingdom is about humility, love, service, obedience, and faithfulness.

Instead of asking, “How can I be great?” maybe the better question is, “How can I be more like Jesus?

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight
