A man who mistreats his wife

Marriage is a sacred covenant established by God. It is designed to reflect the love, unity, and faithfulness between Christ and His church. When a man mistreats his wife, he not only wounds her emotionally, spiritually, or physically, but he also violates the will of God. The Bible gives clear instructions about how husbands should treat their wives—and it strongly warns against any form of mistreatment.

1. God Commands Husbands to Love Their Wives

Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

This is a high standard of love—sacrificial, enduring, and unselfish. Mistreating a wife through emotional neglect, verbal abuse, infidelity, or physical violence is a complete contradiction of this command. Christ never abuses His bride (the church); instead, He nurtures and protects her.

2. Mistreating a Wife Hinders a Man’s Prayers

1 Peter 3:7 warns, “Husbands, in the same way, be considerate as you live with your wives… so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

This verse reveals a sobering truth: spiritual consequences come from dishonoring one’s wife. If a man mistreats his wife, God may turn a deaf ear to his prayers. Heaven does not honor a husband who dishonors his wife.

3. God Witnesses How a Man Treats His Wife

In Malachi 2:14-16, God rebukes men who have been unfaithful to their wives: “The Lord is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth… though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.

God watches how husbands treat their wives. Abuse, betrayal, and unkindness in marriage grieve His heart. He calls it a betrayal of the covenant.

4. Love, Not Harshness, Is the Biblical Standard

Colossians 3:19 says, “Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

Being harsh can include criticism, intimidation, manipulation, or shouting. These behaviors are not signs of strength—they are signs of spiritual immaturity. True strength is shown through gentleness, patience, and compassion.

5. The Blessings of Treating One’s Wife Well

The Bible also highlights the rewards of honoring a wife. Proverbs 18:22 says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

That favor can be lost if a man turns against the very blessing God gave him. A loving husband not only keeps God’s favor but also builds a peaceful and joyful home.

Modern-Day Examples of Mistreatment

● A husband constantly belittles his wife in front of others, lowering her self-esteem.

● A man withholds affection, using silence as a weapon.

● Another ignores his wife's emotional and spiritual needs, prioritizing work, hobbies, or friends over his family.

Each of these actions violates God’s design for marriage.

Call to Repentance and Healing

God offers forgiveness and restoration. A husband who has mistreated his wife can repent and ask God—and his wife—for forgiveness. Through prayer, accountability, and love, God can rebuild broken marriages.

Mistreating one’s wife is not a minor issue—it is a spiritual violation. The Bible is clear: husbands are to love, protect, and honor their wives. Anything less brings damage to the marriage and distance from God. Let every man examine himself and walk in obedience to God’s holy standard for marriage.

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight

We all already know that there are evil activities that take place at midnight, and our safety lies in the power of our prayers.
