Benefits of Covenant with God

A covenant is more than a promise—it's a sacred agreement initiated by God, often sealed with signs, blessings, and responsibilities. Throughout the Bible, we see God making covenants with individuals and nations, offering blessings, protection, identity, and purpose in exchange for faithfulness and obedience. When we enter a covenant with God through Jesus Christ, we gain access to spiritual, emotional, and physical blessings that impact our lives both now and eternally.

This teaching explores the benefits of having a covenant with God, supported by Scripture, biblical examples, and practical application.

1. Divine Protection

"But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil." – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper..." – Isaiah 54:17

One of the major benefits of a covenant with God is supernatural protection. When God establishes a covenant, He commits to guarding His people.

In Genesis 17, God made a covenant with Abraham and promised to be his God and the God of his descendants. This relationship ensured divine protection for Abraham and his lineage.

Note: Trusting in God’s covenant means you are covered in battles you may not even see. His angels are assigned to watch over His covenant people (Psalm 91:11).

2. Access to God’s Promises

"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen..." – 2 Corinthians 1:20

"He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations." – Psalm 105:8

God’s promises are guaranteed for those in covenant with Him. These promises include peace, healing, provision, and eternal life.

The Israelites, under the Mosaic covenant, were promised a land flowing with milk and honey if they obeyed (Deuteronomy 28:1–14).

Note: As a believer in Christ, you’re a beneficiary of the New Covenant, meaning every promise God made through Christ applies to you.

3. Identity and Belonging

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people..." – 1 Peter 2:9

"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." – Romans 8:16

Covenant with God gives you a new identity. You’re no longer just a creation—you become a child of God.

When God called Israel, He said, "I will be your God, and you shall be My people" (Leviticus 26:12). This marked Israel as distinct among nations.

Note: Your worth and identity are rooted in your relationship with God, not in what the world says about you.

4. Spiritual Inheritance

"And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." – Galatians 3:29

"Blessed be the God... who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ." – Ephesians 1:3

Covenant with God gives you an inheritance. You become a joint heir with Christ.

God promised Abraham, "In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed" (Genesis 12:3). This blessing flows to us through faith (Galatians 3:29).

Note: Every spiritual blessing—including righteousness, peace, wisdom, and authority—is yours in the covenant through Christ.

5. Forgiveness and Redemption

"In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins..." – Ephesians 1:7

"Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." – Hebrews 10:17

Under the New Covenant, Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, granting us forgiveness and freedom from sin.

In Luke 22:20, Jesus says, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Through His blood, we are redeemed.

Note: When you accept Jesus, your sins are wiped clean. This is a benefit not of religion but of relationship—sealed by covenant.

6. Divine Provision

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:19

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." – Psalm 23:1

God provides for those in covenant with Him, just as He provided for Israel in the wilderness and for the early church.

In Exodus, God provided manna and water in the desert for His covenant people.

Note: God is committed to meeting your needs—not just physical, but emotional and spiritual—as you walk faithfully with Him.

7. Inner Peace and Joy

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You..." – Isaiah 26:3

"In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." – Psalm 16:11

A covenant relationship brings peace of mind, knowing you are right with God and secure in His love.

David wrote many Psalms expressing confidence and joy in God’s covenantal love—even during trials.

Note: When storms rage around you, your covenant with God anchors you in peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).

8. Empowerment for Purpose

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works..." – Ephesians 2:10

God doesn't just bless us—He empowers us to fulfill His divine purpose for our lives.

Jeremiah was called and equipped for prophetic ministry from his mother’s womb. God's covenant ensured His presence and guidance (Jeremiah 1:5–10).

Note: When you're in covenant with God, He gives you gifts, grace, and guidance to accomplish your calling.

9. Eternal Life

"And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life." – 1 John 2:25

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." – John 3:16

The ultimate benefit of the covenant with God through Jesus Christ is eternal life in His presence.

Jesus told the thief on the cross, “Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” This was a covenant promise to one who believed, even at the last moment (Luke 23:43).

Note: Covenant life doesn’t end at death. It continues into eternity, where we will dwell with God forever.

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight

We all already know that there are evil activities that take place at midnight, and our safety lies in the power of our prayers. Since the kingdom of darkness operates at midnight, it is our duty as Christians to also stay awake to wage war against their schemes in our lives, destinies, and everything that concerns us.    The enemy can operate at any time; that is why the word of God urged us to stay vigilant at all times because our enemy, the devil, is never tired of trying to harm us. 1 peter 5:8   We will be discussing the benefits of midnight prayer. Prayer should be part of our daily lifestyle because, in the Bible, we are instructed to pray without season according to 1 Thessalonians 5:17    So, the reason for the midnight prayer is that it is the time evil is at work, and to pray at that time is to avert those evil activities from having any effect on our lives.    Acts 16:22-40 revealed the benefit of midnight prayer when Paul and Silas...
