Benefits of favour in the Bible

Favour is one of the most powerful spiritual blessings a believer can receive. Throughout the Bible, we see how God's favour transforms ordinary lives, opens impossible doors, and brings supernatural outcomes. The favour of God is not just about material blessings; it is a divine endorsement that positions a person to fulfill God's purpose with ease, influence, and grace.

In this today's teaching, we will explore the benefits of favour in the Bible.

1. Favour Brings Divine Promotion

One of the primary benefits of God’s favour is supernatural promotion. Favour lifts people from obscurity to prominence, as seen in the lives of Joseph, Esther, and David.

When God favours you, He will cause even those in authority to notice and promote you beyond your qualifications or background.

Joseph went from being a prisoner to a prime minister in Egypt because of God’s favour. Genesis 39:21 (NIV) – “The Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favour in the eyes of the prison warden.

Despite false accusations and injustice, favour located Joseph in the prison and lifted him to the palace.

2. Favour Opens Doors of Opportunity

Even when others are more qualified or experienced, God’s favour can single you out and open doors of destiny. God’s favour opens doors that no man can shut. These doors may include business breakthroughs, ministry assignments, job placements, or divine connections.

Queen Esther was favoured among many women and was chosen by the king to become queen. Esther 2:17 (NIV) – “Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favour and approval more than any of the other virgins.

Through divine favour, Esther was positioned to save her people.

3. Favour Grants Protection in Difficult Times

God’s favour can keep you safe during plagues, economic downturns, or spiritual attacks. In times of danger, trouble, or persecution, favour can act as a shield of protection.

Noah lived in a corrupt generation, yet he found favour with God, which led to the salvation of his family. Genesis 6:8 (KJV) – “But Noah found grace [favour] in the eyes of the Lord.

4. Favour Brings Supernatural Provision

When you walk in favour, God will supply your needs in ways that defy natural explanation. God’s favour can cause people, systems, and even enemies to provide resources for your journey.

Before leaving Egypt, the Israelites received favour from the Egyptians, who gave them gold, silver, and clothing. Exodus 3:21 (NIV) – “And I will make the Egyptians favourably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed.

5. Favour Establishes Your Assignment and Purpose

With God’s favour, your calling becomes clearer and achievable despite opposition or limitations. God’s favour is often tied to your divine assignment. It provides clarity, boldness, and resources for your calling.

Nehemiah received the king’s favour to rebuild Jerusalem's walls, including letters, permission, and resources. Nehemiah 2:8 (NLT) – “And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me.

6. Favour Releases Mercy and Forgiveness

Favour leads to mercy and forgiveness, especially in situations where judgment is due. God’s favour can overturn judgments, cancel curses, and give you a fresh start.

Do you know that, despite David's grave sins, he still received forgiveness and restoration because of God’s favour? Psalm 30:5 (KJV) – “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

7. Favour Produces Honour and Recognition

Favour causes others to honour and respect you, even when they don’t fully understand you.

Daniel rose to positions of influence in a foreign land because he had favour with God and man. Daniel 1:9 (KJV) – “Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

God’s favour can elevate your status and bring respect among peers, leaders, and even adversaries.

8. Favour Accelerates Delayed Destinies

Some people spend years struggling, but a moment of favour can bring restoration and speed, because God’s favour can compress years of effort into moments of divine results.

Ruth, a Moabite widow, experienced acceleration through divine favour when she met Boaz. Ruth 2:10 (NIV) – “She asked him, ‘Why have I found such favour in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?’

She moved from poverty to becoming the great-grandmother of King David.

9. Favour Grants Access to Divine Wisdom

Favour not only brings opportunities but also grants wisdom to navigate them. When you walk in favour, divine insights and problem-solving ability follow.

God gave Solomon wisdom, and he gained favour with his people and other nations. 1 Kings 4:34 (NIV) – “From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom…

10. Favour Brings Joy and Fulfillment

True fulfilment in life comes when God’s favour is evident. It replaces toil with joy. Psalm 5:12 (NIV) – “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favour as with a shield.

Favour transforms burdens into blessings and brings lasting joy.

How to Attract God's Favour

1. Obedience – Walking in God’s commandments attracts His favour (Deuteronomy 28:1).

2. Humility – God gives grace (favour) to the humble (James 4:6).

3. Faithfulness – Serve diligently like Joseph and Daniel.

4. Seeking God – Spend time in prayer and intimacy with God.

5. Honouring God with your life – Live with integrity and righteousness.

Prayer Points for Divine Favour

1. Lord, let Your favour locate me in every area of my life. Psalm 90:17

2. Father, surround me with favour as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

3. God of Joseph, lift me from the prison to the palace in Your favour. Genesis 39:21

4. Lord, grant me favour with those in authority and position me for divine opportunities. Esther 2:17

5. Father, let Your favour bring restoration and acceleration into my life. Ruth 2:10

6. Lord, let favour speak for me where my voice cannot be heard. Proverbs 3:4

7. Father, let me walk daily in Your divine favour and purpose. Psalm 30:5

The favour of God is a divine advantage. It breaks protocols, overrides systems, and opens supernatural doors. More than luck or effort, favour brings about results that cannot be explained by human logic. As believers, we must desire and walk in the favour of God daily, because, with it, our lives take on a new dimension of grace, success, and fulfillment.

BRemember: one day of favour is better than a thousand days of labour.
