Does God know everything that will happen in my life?

One of the most comforting and awe-inspiring truths in Scripture is that God is omniscient—He knows all things. That includes every detail of our lives—our past, present, and future. For many believers, this truth can bring both peace and deep questions. If God knows everything that will happen in our lives, does that mean we don’t have free will? How does His knowledge affect our relationship with Him?

Let’s explore what the Bible says about God’s knowledge of our lives and how we can respond in faith.

1. God's Omniscience Is Complete

The Bible teaches that God is all-knowing.

● Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV): “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar… Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

From the smallest detail of your daily routine to the deepest thoughts of your heart, God knows it all. This isn’t just general knowledge—it’s intimate and personal. He doesn’t just know about you—He knows you.

● Hebrews 4:13 (NIV): “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

There is no moment in your life—past or future—that is hidden from Him.

2. God Knew You Before You Were Born

God’s knowledge of your life began before you even existed physically.

● Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV): “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart...

● Psalm 139:16 (NIV): “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

These verses show that God doesn't just react to what happens in our lives—He has a divine plan and purpose that includes every day, every choice, and every circumstance.

3. God Knows the Future—Yet We Still Have Choices

While God’s knowledge is complete, that doesn't mean we are robots. The Bible affirms human responsibility.

● Proverbs 16:9 (NIV): “In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

We make choices, but God guides our steps and weaves everything together for His purposes.

This tension between divine knowledge and human free will is a mystery we may not fully grasp, but both are taught in Scripture. God's foreknowledge doesn’t cancel our ability to choose—it shows how sovereign He is, even over our free will.

4. God's Knowledge Offers Comfort, Not Fear

For believers, God’s omniscience is not something to fear—it’s a source of comfort.

● Romans 8:28 (NIV): “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Even when life seems unpredictable, you can rest in the truth that God is never surprised. He knows your pain, your dreams, your battles, and your victories—even before you face them.

When things don’t go as planned, remember: they still go according to God’s plan.

5. How Should You Respond?

Knowing that God sees your entire life should lead you to:

Trust Him more deeply — He sees what you cannot.

Pray with confidence — He already knows what you need.

Live with purpose — You are part of His eternal plan.

Prayer Points:

1. Lord, help me trust Your perfect knowledge of my life.

2. Give me peace in the uncertainty, knowing You are never uncertain.

3. Teach me to walk in obedience, even when I don’t understand.

4. Reveal to me Your will each day and help me follow it.

God’s knowledge of your life is not just a theological idea—it’s a daily reality. He knows you, loves you, and is guiding you toward His perfect plan. Let that truth anchor your heart today.

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight
