Leading a child to the Lord

Leading a child to the Lord is a sacred privilege and a moment that echoes into eternity. Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Children are capable of understanding spiritual truths when presented in a loving and age-appropriate way.

Here’s a gentle, step-by-step guide to leading a child to Jesus Christ:

1. Use Simple, Clear Language

Children process information differently from adults. Avoid theological jargon and speak in ways they can relate to. Instead of saying “justification” or “repentance,” you might say:

● “Jesus loves you very much.”

● “We all make mistakes. That’s called sin.

● “Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins.

● “When we believe in Him and ask for forgiveness, He makes our hearts clean.

This helps them grasp the gospel without confusion.

2. Share the Gospel in a Relatable Way

Use Bible verses and practical examples to help children understand the core truths:

● God loves them – “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16)

● We all sin – “All have sinned and fall short…” (Romans 3:23)

● Jesus died for us – “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

● We can be saved by faith – “If you believe in your heart… you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Consider using a wordless book, colors, or visual Bible stories to make the message more memorable.

3. Ask Simple, Thoughtful Questions

Before leading a child in prayer, make sure they understand. Ask:

● “Do you believe Jesus is God’s Son?

● “Do you know what sin is?

● “Have you ever done something wrong?

● “Do you want Jesus to forgive you and be with you forever?

These questions allow the child to express their faith in their own words. If they’re unsure, don’t push. Pray with them and keep teaching gently over time.

4. Lead in a Short, Sincere Prayer

If the child is ready and wants to receive Jesus, guide them in prayer. Let them repeat after you:

“Dear Jesus, I know I’ve done wrong things. Please forgive me. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my heart and help me to follow You always. Amen.

Keep it simple and heartfelt. The prayer isn’t a formula—it’s an expression of their faith.

5. Assure Them of Their Salvation

        Children need reassurance. Tell them:

● “Jesus heard you, and He lives in your heart now.”

● “You are a child of God!” (John 1:12)

● “He will never leave you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

Consider marking the day on a calendar or giving them a small certificate or Bible as a keepsake.

6. Nurture Their New Faith

After the decision, help the child grow in their relationship with God:

● Give them a children’s Bible and read it together.

● Teach them how to pray and thank God daily.

● Encourage them to attend Sunday school and church regularly.

● Help them memorize simple verses like Psalm 23:1 or John 3:16.

Faith needs nourishment, just like a seed needs water and sunlight.

7. Be a Consistent Example

Children often learn more from what they see than what they hear. Be a living example of love, forgiveness, and faith. Pray for them, with them, and continue pointing them to Jesus in everyday life.

There is no greater joy than seeing a child choose to follow Jesus. It is a moment that sets the course of their life and eternity. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or mentor, your influence matters. Plant the seeds, water them with prayer, and trust God to bring the increase.

Benefits of praying at 12 midnight

We all already know that there are evil activities that take place at midnight, and our safety lies in the power of our prayers. Since the kingdom of darkness operates at midnight, it is our duty as Christians to also stay awake to wage war against their schemes in our lives, destinies, and everything that concerns us.    The enemy can operate at any time; that is why the word of God urged us to stay vigilant at all times because our enemy, the devil, is never tired of trying to harm us. 1 peter 5:8   We will be discussing the benefits of midnight prayer. Prayer should be part of our daily lifestyle because, in the Bible, we are instructed to pray without season according to 1 Thessalonians 5:17    So, the reason for the midnight prayer is that it is the time evil is at work, and to pray at that time is to avert those evil activities from having any effect on our lives.    Acts 16:22-40 revealed the benefit of midnight prayer when Paul and Silas...
