Activating the fire of God

          One of the most powerful symbols of God's presence in the Bible is fire. It represents His glory, His purifying power, His righteous judgment, and His passion.           The fire of God is a spiritual reality that represents:

    “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…” Malachi 3:3

    “The Lord descended upon it in fire…” Exodus 19:18

● Power – Fire demonstrates God's divine intervention

● Judgment – Fire is the symbol of God's holy wrath against sin

1. Moses and the Burning Bush

    Exodus 3:2 – “The bush burned with fire, but was not consumed.

          God used fire to call Moses into his destiny.

    Exodus 19:18 – “Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire.

          Fire signaled the fearsome presence of God.

3. Elijah at Mount Carmel

    1 Kings 18:38 – “Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the sacrifice.

          Fire settled the contest between God and Baal.

4. Pentecost

    Acts 2:3-4 – “Cloven tongues like fire sat upon each of them.

          Fire came as a sign of the Holy Spirit's baptism and boldness.

    Isaiah 6:6-7 – “A live coal… touched my mouth and said, ‘Your guilt is taken away.’”

Why Do We Need the Fire of God?

          In our generation, the church and individual believers desperately need the fire of God to:

● Burn away lukewarmness

● Empower holy living

● Ignite boldness for evangelism

● Create a hunger for spiritual things

● Break chains of carnality and fear

● Stir revival and awakening

          Without fire, we are cold, ineffective, and dry. With fire, we become divine instruments of light and power.

How to Activate the Fire of God

          Here are biblical ways to activate and stir up the fire of God in your life:

1. Consecration and Repentance

          God does not place fire on polluted altars. You must first surrender and purify your heart.

    “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice…” Romans 12:1

    “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners…” James 4:8

2. Hunger and Desperation

          Only the hungry and thirsty are filled.

    “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…” Matthew 5:6

    “My soul thirsts for You… in a dry and weary land.” Psalm 63:1

3. Fervent Prayer and Fasting

          Fire is birthed in the secret place of prayer. Elijah called down fire through prayer.

4. Holy Spirit Infilling

          The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Fire. Invite Him.

5. Meditating on God’s Word

          The Word is a fire-starter in the spirit.

    “Is not My Word like fire?” Jeremiah 23:29

          God responds to genuine worship with fire.

    “The fire came down from heaven… and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.” 2 Chronicles 7:1

How to Keep the Fire Burning

          The fire of God can fade if not nurtured. Here are scriptural keys to keep the fire alive:

1. Daily Devotion

          Spend time in the Word and prayer every day. Leviticus 6:12-13 says,

   “The fire must be kept burning; it must not go out.

2. Avoid Sin

          Sin quenches the Spirit.

    “Do not quench the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19

3. Stay Connected to Spirit-filled Believers

          Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Fellowship stirs fire.

4. Serve God Actively

          Use your spiritual gifts. The more you serve, the more fire flows.

    “Fan into flame the gift of God…” 2 Timothy 1:6

          Make your heart an altar. Offer yourself as a living sacrifice. Seek God with all your heart. And the fire will fall.
