It refers to careful and persistent work or effort—both in spiritual pursuits and in daily responsibilities. The Scriptures are filled with stories of men and women whose lives exemplified diligence, earning them divine favor and a lasting legacy. 1. Noah – Diligent Obedience in a Corrupt Generation

Genesis 6:9, Genesis 6:22

        Noah’s story is a striking picture of diligence. Living in a time of widespread wickedness, Noah remained righteous before God. When instructed to build the ark—a task that likely took decades—he did so with unwavering diligence. Genesis 6:22 says, “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” This speaks not only of obedience but of sustained meticulous effort. Constructing a massive vessel on dry ground without any sign of rain required diligence rooted in faith.

2. Ruth – Diligence in Humility and Loyalty

Ruth 2:7, Ruth 2:17

        Ruth, a Moabite widow, chose to follow Naomi and adopt the God of Israel.
