Prayers against forgetting dreams

Dreams are not random images or meaningless mental plays that occur when we sleep. The Bible makes it clear that dreams are one of the primary channels through which God communicates with His people. Job 33:1––16 says:

“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men… Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction.

Despite this divine provision, many believers experience spiritual attacks that cause them to forget their dreams—especially when those dreams carry prophetic warnings, direction, or divine insight. The act of forgetting dreams is not always natural—it can be the result of spiritual interference, pollution, or negligence.

This teaching is a Spirit-led guide full of revelation, scriptures, and powerful prayers to help you recover and guard your dream life.

The Spiritual Significance of Dreams

In both the Old and New Testaments, God often revealed His will, plans, and prophetic instructions through dreams.

Here are just a few examples:

Joseph (Genesis 37:5––11): God gave him prophetic insight into his future through dreams.

Pharaoh (Genesis 41): His dreams predicted a coming famine, which Joseph interpreted.

Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2): His forgotten dream contained divine mysteries of empires.

Joseph, the husband of Mary (Matthew 1:20): Received guidance about Jesus through a dream.

These biblical examples prove that dreams are spiritual messages from God, and the enemy knows this. If he can make you forget what God showed you, then he has succeeded in stealing divine instruction or revelation.

Why Do People Forget Dreams?

1. Spiritual Attack

Forgetting dreams is often a spiritual problem, not a psychological one. The devil seeks to erase what God reveals in the night, especially when it's a warning or instruction.

Matthew 13:25 – “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares…

2. Polluted Spirit

A life of sin, carnality, or exposure to unclean environments (pornography, anger, fear, witchcraft media) can defile your spirit and reduce spiritual sensitivity.

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

3. Spiritual Laziness

When a believer neglects prayer, meditation on God’s Word, or discipline like keeping a dream journal, they may lose access to divine memory.

Proverbs 10:4 – “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand…

4. Witchcraft or Demonic Manipulation

There are spiritual forces assigned to monitor and steal dreams, especially dreams of victory, direction, or deliverance.

Daniel 10:13 – “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days…

5. Broken Communication with God

When we grieve the Holy Spirit through disobedience or distraction, we become deaf and blind to divine signals.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 – “Quench not the Spirit.

What Happens When Dreams Are Forgotten?

Forgetting your dreams may result in:

● Missed Warnings (e.g., attacks, traps, danger)

● Lost Opportunities (e.g., divine connections, directions, breakthroughs)

● Spiritual Blindness (when dreams are meant to show your spiritual state)

● Disobedience to God’s instruction (due to lack of remembrance)

This is why restoring your dream life is a spiritual priority.

Prophetic Declarations Over Your Dream Life

          Declare these boldly:

● I am spiritually alert in my sleep.

● My dream life is no longer under attack.

● The blood of Jesus secures my mind and memory.

● I recover every stolen dream, warning, and vision.

● I receive divine instruction through the night watches.

● My sleep is peaceful and prophetic.

● I walk in spiritual intelligence and divine foresight.

Beloved, forgetting dreams may seem small, but in the spirit realm, it can mean losing divine direction or delaying destiny. God is always speaking. He may choose to warn you about a friend, prepare you for a promotion, or instruct you about your calling through a dream. When you forget such encounters, the consequences can be costly.

Today, let your heart cry out like David in Psalm 119:18:

“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”

Pray without ceasing. Create a prayer altar at night. Be intentional about your dream life. The Lord who restored Nebuchadnezzar’s forgotten dream through Daniel will also restore yours.
