Signs of spiritual attack in dreams

         Dreams are a powerful tool that can reveal what is happening in the spiritual realm. While some dreams are messages from God, others can be signs of spiritual attack. The Bible confirms that God speaks through dreams (Job 33:14-18), but the enemy also uses dreams to afflict, deceive, or delay a person’s destiny. Understanding these signs is important for spiritual victory.

 1. Eating in the Dream

          If you often see yourself eating in dreams, especially strange or unfamiliar food, it could be a spiritual attack. These dreams are not just about physical hunger. Spiritually, they can represent demonic covenants, sickness, or pollution.

    “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares…” Matthew 13:25

Meaning: The enemy takes advantage of your spiritual weakness to introduce evil seeds into your life. Eating in dreams can signify demonic manipulation or a delay in breakthrough.

 2. Intimacy in Dreams

           Having intimacy in dreams, whether with a stranger or a familiar person, is a sign of a spiritual spouse. These spirits cause problems such as marital delay, relationship breakdown, and barrenness.

    “The two shall become one flesh.” Ephesians 5:31

Meaning: When this act happens in a dream, it may represent a spiritual covenant, often demonic, that hinders blessings in real life.

3. Being Chased or Attacked

          Dreams where you are being chased by humans, animals, or dark shadows are signs of spiritual warfare. These attacks show that the enemy is trying to instill fear, oppression, or block your progress.

    “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold…” Proverbs 28:1

Meaning: If you are constantly being chased, it may indicate ancestral powers or demonic agents pursuing your destiny.

4. Seeing Snakes or Dangerous Creatures

          Snakes in dreams often symbolize deception, danger, or the presence of witchcraft powers. Repeated dreams involving snakes or scorpions suggest spiritual attacks from the kingdom of darkness.

    “You will trample on snakes and scorpions…” Luke 10:19

Meaning: These creatures represent demonic power or hidden attacks meant to cause harm.

5. Seeing Dead People

           Dreams where you interact with dead relatives or attend funerals are serious spiritual warnings. They may indicate the spirit of death or ancestral bondage trying to operate in your life.

    “The dead know nothing…” Ecclesiastes 9:5

Meaning: It’s a form of demonic manipulation that can bring fear, loss, or stagnation if not addressed with prayer.

6. Losing Items (Shoes, Phones, Bags)

          Losing valuable things like your phone, shoes, or bag in dreams can mean a loss of spiritual authority, destiny, or direction. These items represent purpose and spiritual tools.

    “Put on the whole armor of God…” Ephesians 6:11

Meaning: Losing shoes can mean your spiritual walk is under attack. A lost phone may symbolize broken communication with God or destiny helpers.

7. Returning to Old Homes or Schools

          If you dream of being in your childhood home or school, it may be a sign of stagnation or spiritual backwardness. These dreams often appear when progress is being hindered.

    “Forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward…” Philippians 3:13

Meaning: Such dreams point to the enemy dragging you back into your past to prevent your future.

8. Sleep Paralysis and Nightmares

          Sleep paralysis, where you feel unable to move or speak while asleep, is a direct demonic attack. Nightmares filled with fear or dread also suggest spiritual oppression.

    “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night…” Psalm 91:5

Meaning: It’s a call to wake up spiritually and fight back with prayer and the Word of God.

9. Coffins, Blood, or Funerals

          Seeing coffins, blood, or attending funerals in dreams may be an attack of premature death, tragedy, or affliction.

    “I shall not die but live…” – Psalm 118:17

Meaning: These dreams require serious prayer to cancel the evil plots of the enemy.

10. Failure at the Edge of Breakthrough

          If you often dream of writing exams and failing, missing a bus, or losing a job offer in dreams, it may be a spirit of near-success failure.

    “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy…” John 10:10

Meaning: The enemy is trying to block your progress or steal your breakthrough.

          Not every dream is an attack, but when dreams are repetitive, fearful, or disturbing, they may be signs of spiritual warfare. The good news is that Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). With prayer, fasting, and the Word, you can overcome.

    “For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams…”  Job 33:14-15 (NLT)

          Stay watchful. Your dreams are messages—either from God or a warning against the enemy’s schemes. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment and rise up in faith.
