Signs God is preparing you

God never wastes a moment in our lives. Everything He allows has purpose—especially the seasons that feel dry, quiet, or filled with testing. If you’ve been wondering whether God is preparing you for something new, here are 12 clear, biblical signs that He is positioning you for greater glory.

1. Increased Trials and Testing

Before promotion comes preparation, and often that preparation includes hardship. Trials don’t mean God has abandoned you—they usually mean He’s refining your faith.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you...” Isaiah 43:2

“The testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:3

Like Joseph, you may face rejection or betrayal, but God is molding you for a higher assignment.

2. A Stronger Hunger for God

A sign that God is calling you deeper is a holy dissatisfaction with surface-level living. You start to crave His Word, His presence, and prayer like never before.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

This is the Spirit stirring your soul to prepare you for intimacy and revelation.

3. Unusual Restlessness

You feel a strong discomfort where you are. It’s not anxiety—it’s a divine prompting. God may be calling you out of your comfort zone.

“You have dwelt long enough in this mountain.” Deuteronomy 1:6

Like Moses, you sense there’s more—even before your mission begins.

4. Separation from Certain People

Sometimes God removes people or closes doors—not as rejection, but as redirection. He is pruning your life for greater fruit.

“Every branch that bears fruit, He prunes that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:2

Abraham had to separate from Lot before he could walk fully in God’s promise.

5. Divine Revelations Begin to Flow

You start receiving insight, dreams, and fresh understanding of scripture. The Holy Spirit begins to speak more clearly to your heart.

“Call to Me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things.” Jeremiah 33:3

Like Daniel, God gives wisdom for what’s ahead.

6. A Call to Purity and Surrender

When God is preparing you, He will convict your heart to let go of sin, bad habits, and distractions. He is purifying you for holy use.

“Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16

You are being set apart—just like Isaiah was cleansed before being sent (Isaiah 6).

7. Uncommon Favor

Doors begin to open that you didn’t knock on. People offer help unexpectedly. This is God making a way before the next season.

“You will arise and have mercy… for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.” Psalm 102:13

Like Esther, favor precedes your assignment.

8. Spiritual Attacks Intensify

A sure sign that elevation is near is when opposition increases. The enemy fights what he fears.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17

“We wrestle not against flesh and blood…” Ephesians 6:12

Jesus was tempted in the wilderness right before launching His ministry.

9. Desire for Solitude and Prayer

God may pull you away from noise and people so He can speak clearly. Solitude becomes sacred.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Like Paul, who went into Arabia for spiritual formation (Galatians 1:17), God may be hiding you for preparation.

10. Opportunities to Serve Increase

Before honor comes service. God will test your faithfulness in small things before larger assignments.

“Whoever is faithful with little will be faithful with much.” Luke 16:10

David served in obscurity before he was crowned.

11. Your Prayer Life Deepens

You begin to weep in prayer, intercede for others, and desire time with God like never before.

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Like Hannah, your spiritual womb is birthing something powerful (1 Samuel 1).

12. Confirmations from Others

God may use people, prophecies, or even strangers to confirm what He’s already told you in secret.

“Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word shall be established.” 2 Corinthians 13:1

Like David, who was anointed in front of his brothers, God will affirm your calling.

If you see any of these signs in your life, don’t fear—rejoice! God is preparing you for more anointing, more responsibility, and deeper impact. His process is painful at times, but His purpose is perfect.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” Philippians 1:6

Let God shape you. Stay surrendered. The glory ahead is greater than what you’ve left behind.
