The word deliverance in Scripture is often associated with being rescued or set free from danger, bondage, or evil. But total deliverance goes beyond a momentary rescue — it speaks of a comprehensive liberation that touches every part of your life: spirit, soul, and body. It includes freedom from sin, demonic oppression, emotional trauma, ancestral curses, poverty, and fear.
God is not interested in partial healing or incomplete transformation. He desires to see His children walk in complete liberty through Jesus Christ.
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36 (KJV)
What Is Total Deliverance?
Total deliverance means:
● Freedom from spiritual bondage (sin, witchcraft, curses)
● Freedom from emotional captivity (fear, trauma, depression)
● Freedom from physical affliction (sickness, torment)
● Freedom from generational cycles (ancestral sins, poverty, rejection)
● Freedom from demonic harassment (dream attacks, oppression, torment)
Total deliverance is not just about getting rid of demons. It’s about restoration — returning everything that the enemy has stolen and entering into the fullness of God's purpose for your life.
Bible Verses on Total Deliverance (With Commentary)
1. Deliverance from Sin and Darkness
● Colossians 1:13 (KJV)
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”
God has already delivered us from the control of Satan’s kingdom. The power of darkness has no legal hold over a believer walking in Christ. But many Christians still walk in bondage due to ignorance, unrepentant sin, or demonic covenants.
● Romans 6:14 (KJV)
“For sin shall not have dominion over you…”
This verse is a bold declaration of victory over sin’s power. Total deliverance starts with salvation and continues as we submit daily to the Spirit.
2. Deliverance from Enemies and Danger
Psalm 18:17 (KJV)
“He delivered me from my strong enemy…”
Some battles in life are beyond natural strength. Only God can deliver us from enemies — physical or spiritual — that are stronger than we are. David experienced this deliverance countless times, and so can we.
● Psalm 91:3 (KJV)
“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler…”
This speaks of spiritual traps — invisible pits set by demonic forces to entangle believers. God promises to deliver us “surely” — it is certain and dependable.
3. Emotional and Mental Deliverance
● Psalm 34:4 (KJV)
“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Fear is a spiritual prison. Many believers are bound by anxiety, trauma, or suicidal thoughts. Emotional wounds can be deep, but God’s love heals and delivers.
● 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear…”
Fear is a spirit, not just an emotion. Total deliverance includes breaking the grip of emotional torment through the Word of God and inner healing.
4. Deliverance from Generational Bondage
● Isaiah 10:27 (KJV)
“And the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
Many families are under ancestral yokes — cycles of poverty, premature death, barrenness, or marital failure. But the anointing of God destroys, not just breaks, these yokes.
● Galatians 3:13 (KJV)
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law…”
Through the cross, Jesus legally removed every curse. You no longer have to live under generational bondage.
5. Jesus: Our Deliverer
● Luke 4:18 (KJV)
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to preach deliverance to the captives…”
Jesus came to set the captives free — spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Every miracle He did was part of a full-package deliverance ministry.
● 1 John 3:8 (KJV)
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
Total deliverance was Jesus’ mission on earth — and continues through His Church today.
How to Walk in Total Deliverance
1. Repent and Renounce
Break every legal right the enemy has through sin or occult involvement.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
2. Be Filled with the Word and Spirit
You must replace every lie with the truth of God’s Word.
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11
3. Break Demonic Agreements and Curses
Use declarations and prayers to sever ties with the enemy’s kingdom.
4. Engage in Fervent Prayer and Fasting
“This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21
5. Stay in Fellowship and Accountability
Isolation makes it easier for demons to return. Stay connected to strong believers.
Prayer Points for Total Deliverance
1. Prayer of Surrender
“Lord Jesus, I surrender every area of my life to You. Be Lord over my spirit, soul, and body.”
2. Prayer of Repentance
“Father, forgive me for every sin and open door that gave Satan access. Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus.”
3. Breaking Generational Curses
“I break every generational curse working in my life — by the blood of Jesus! I renounce all covenants and altars of my father's house!”
4. Commanding Deliverance
“I command every demon oppressing my life to leave now in the name of Jesus! Every spiritual yoke be destroyed by fire!”
5. Sealing with the Holy Spirit
“Holy Spirit, fill me afresh. Take over every empty place the enemy has left behind. Empower me to live free and holy.”
Testimonies of Total Deliverance in the Bible
● Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2): Delivered from 7 demons and became a devoted follower of Jesus.
● The Gadarene Demoniac (Mark 5:1–20): Delivered from a legion of demons and became an evangelist.
● The Israelites (Exodus 14): Delivered from Pharaoh and the Red Sea through God's mighty hand.
Their lives were radically transformed — not just spiritually, but emotionally and socially as well. This is what God wants for you!
Total deliverance is not a one-time event; it's a daily lifestyle of victory and submission to God. It is a process that begins at salvation and continues as the Holy Spirit exposes and uproots everything that does not align with the Kingdom of God.
● Psalm 34:19 (KJV)
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
Deliverance is your inheritance. Don’t settle for partial freedom. Press into total deliverance and live in the victory Jesus died to give you!
