Every generation has faced deception, but the Bible makes it clear that as the end draws near, deception will become deeper, more subtle, and more widespread. Jesus didn’t say, “Be careful of wars” or “Be careful of earthquakes” as His first warning about the last days. Instead, He began with a call to be watchful against deception.
Many Christians assume deception will always look obvious—false religions, witchcraft, or openly satanic practices. But the danger of last-day deception is that it will appear attractive, spiritual, and even convincing. The devil rarely shows up in a red suit with horns. Paul said he “masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). That means deception can look like truth at first glance.

1. Stay grounded in God’s Word
Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

John 16:13 – “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.”
