Prayer is one of the most beautiful gifts God has given His children. It is more than a religious duty — it is a sacred conversation between the Creator and His creation. Through prayer, we enter the presence of God, pour out our hearts before Him, and receive His peace, direction, and power.
Many people pray every day, yet few fully understand why we pray. Some see prayer as a way to ask for things, others as a means of seeking comfort in trials. But biblically, prayer is much deeper — it is a lifeline that connects heaven and earth.

We Pray to Build Intimacy with God
At its core, prayer is not about requests — it’s about relationship. God created us for fellowship with Him. From the very beginning, He walked with Adam in the garden, speaking face to face in perfect communion (Genesis 3:8). Even after sin separated humanity from God, His desire for closeness never changed.
Through Jesus Christ, we have been restored into fellowship with the Father. Prayer is how we maintain that connection.
a. Prayer deepens our friendship with God
Jesus said in John 15:15: “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends.”
